Music and Liturgical Arts

Vanderbilt Church follows the call of the psalmist to make a joyful noise to the Lord through the pipe organ, grand pianos and the beautiful voices of our children and soloists. In addition to our own music and worship events, we offer a marvelous concert series that attracts hundreds of listeners to the church.

Vanderbilt follows the call of the psalmist to make a joyful noise to the Lord through many different musical mediums, including the Chancel Choir, the Livley Fulcher Organ, a Yamaha Clavinova, four grand pianos and the beautiful voices of our children and soloists. We provide musical enrichment for all our worship opportunities. A dynamic concert series brings together singers, instrumentalists, writers and artists and choirs to lift the spirit and inspire.

Dear Friends of Music, I am excited to share the 2023-2024 Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church Concert Series with you! We have talented artists from our own neighborhood, and talented artists from around the globe! We have instrumental soloists, organ recitals, choir concerts and many super-talented vocal soloists. There is something for everyone. Please browse through this brochure, and mark your calendars accordingly! We have switched back to our 4pm concert time this season and hope to see many more in attendance! Vanderbilt is committed to supporting a green climate initiative, so we are sending our concert brochure to you virtually and ask that if you are comfortable donating online, please go to www.vpcnaples.org and click the GIVE button at the top right side. Be sure to mark your gift as “Concert Series”. If you prefer a printed copy, please let us know and we can mail one to you. There are also copies available in our church office and Narthex. In order to present talent on this level, we need your financial support. If you are unable to give, please come to the concerts anyway! Please take a look at what we are offering this year, and contribute as generously as you can. And then, tell your friends about the series, and attend these remarkable world-class concerts! Sincere thanks, Dr. James B. Cochran, Director of Music

Chancel Choir

The 85-voice Chancel Choir of Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church provides music for all services of worship. Drawing from a repertoire of all periods of music history from plain chant to contemporary Christian music, the choir serves as the musical ministers of the congregation. The Chancel Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble and membership is open to all interested singers. In addition to providing music for worship, the choir presents two concerts annually.

Rehearsals are held every Wednesday night September through May in Cochran Music Hall. Warm-up rehearsals are held one-half hour before each worship service. If you are interested in joining the choir, please call Jim Cochran at 597-5410.

VandeReaders

The VandeReaders are a dedicated group of volunteers that provide Liturgists for our services and work together to put on small plays for local groups. Contact the office for more information.

You’ll find passionate prayers, delightful displays of whimsy and contemplative music and song.

Seating for all concerts is first-come, first-served. Doors open 30 minutes before performance time.

Come and enjoy the renovated Sanctuary with the addition of our new gorgeous Lively-Fulcher Organ. This year, Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church is also the new Gulf Coast home of Seraphic Fire, Florida’s Grammy Nominated Vocal Ensemble. Tickets for all their performances are required.
